Prateek Suri’s Maser Group enters construction materials market with Emarald launch

Emarald is a 100 per cent subsidiary of MDR Investments and is fully funded by the investment firm. The business will initially operate across the United Arab Emirates and wider Gulf region, with plans to enter selected African markets as its distribution and supply network develops. Its product portfolio includes structural steel, flooring solutions, waterproofing materials, construction tools and other products used across commercial, industrial and infrastructure developments. The business is being developed around the requirements of markets experiencing rapid urbanisation, real estate expansion and large-scale infrastructure investment. For Suri, the move into construction supplies follows a business approach shaped by identifying sectors where demand is closely linked to wider economic development and long-term growth.

Entrepreneur Prateek Suri launches Emarald in Gulf building materials push

Prateek Suri, the investor behind Maser Group and MDR Investments, has launched Emarald, a new building and construction materials supply business focused on the Gulf region. The company will source, trade and supply a range of building materials to contractors, developers, distributors and other construction businesses across regional markets. Its initial product portfolio will include structural steel, flooring materials, waterproofing products, plywood and construction tools, with additional categories expected to be added over time. Emarald will be fully funded by MDR Investments, which will provide capital to support supplier relationships, inventory development and regional distribution. The venture marks Maser Group’s move into the building materials sector following its exit from its consumer electronics operations in Africa in early 2025. Maser Group previously built a consumer electronics business across a number of African markets. The company said experience gained in international sourcing, trading, logistics and distribution would support its expansion into the Gulf construction sector.
